Dental Care for Children
Caring for a child’s teeth begins even before the first tooth appears.
Good habits and a positive approach to dental hygiene have a significant impact on the health of both primary and permanent teeth.
When treating children, we focus on a gentle approach, a calm atmosphere, and education for both parents and children.
When should you start caring?
- Oral care begins already in infancy
- The first baby teeth usually appear around 6–8 months of age
- A full set of primary teeth is typically present by around age 3
Primary teeth are more prone to tooth decay, which is why prevention is essential.
How is dental care for children provided?
During the visit, we don’t just check teeth-we guide parents on:- Age-appropriate brushing
- Suitable oral care products
- Building positive brushing habits
- Preventing decay in baby and early permanent teeth
Care is provided gently, respecting the child’s pace and comfort..
Making tooth brushing fun
Children accept tooth brushing best when it is part of play.We recommend:
- Involving your child in brushing
- Demonstrating the correct technique by example
- Using a toothbrush suited to your child’s age and motor skills
Parents should always finish cleaning the inner surfaces and hard-to-reach areas.
What is the goal of pediatric dental care?
Our goal is for every child to:- See dental care as stress-free
- View tooth brushing as a natural part of the day
- Maintain healthy teeth into adulthood
We also aim to build a positive relationship with dental care from the very first visits.
A calm start for a healthy smile.
An important period around age 6
Around the age of six, the first permanent molars (so-called ‘six-year molars’) begin to erupt. They often go unnoticed because they do not replace any primary teeth. These teeth are very important and require careful oral hygiene.
